🙂

As is my custom, I was sitting with my morning beverage today going through my morning pre-game ritual, as outlined in the post Exercise – Envision – Read – Meditate – Pray – Empower .

(Yes, I do consider every day to be a present in the game of life)

I was thinking about what messages I have received that would benefit you, the reader of this Blog Post.

I had been sharing mind yesterday with my good friend and mentor Phil McGarvey. We had been reflecting on the great results that are showing up for each of us as we each have been, as Napoleon Hill taught, “demanding of ourselves persistent continuous action towards the attainment of our PURPOSE

I had also spent the last week-end in the company of, and being taught by, the GREAT Jon Lavin. Another one who leads BY EXAMPLE.  Jon had shared with me and five hundred and more “friends I haven’t met yet” how in his early life his great desire was to be a professional golfer.

‘Amazingly’ this combination lead me directly to the lesson taught by today’s post – “A Life Lesson Golf Teaches”

Co-incidence? I don’t think so

🙂

So why are we talking golf, you might ask?

Well, actually, the purpose here is more about life lessons that the game of golf teaches…

🙂

The golfing great, Lee Trevino, is quoted as having said

“There is no such thing as a natural touch. Touch is something you create by hitting millions of golf balls.”

There is a great lesson to be learned from this.

Whenever we look at the masters in any walk of life we would care to pursue whether it be sports, entertainment, business… anything we look at the practitioners and say to ourselves “wow – that looks easy – I wish I could be like him”

Well the truth is… WE CAN!

🙂

How can I make this assertion, you ask?

Well, it’s actually quite simple.

It’s not practice that makes perfect

It’s perfect practice….

Applied…

Over

And Over

And Over

Again.

🙂

So, dear reader, the question to be asked is “what will you give up to become as accomplished as you need to be, to reach the level you wish to reach?”

You see, Lee Trevino, simply put, was willing to discipline himself to do what most could, but wouldn’t, do.

Worthwhile accomplishment in anything is a “pay it ahead” game!

But don’t just take it from me… You can tell Infinite Intelligence – Lee Trevino, Phil McGarvey and Jon Lavin sent you!

🙂

For myself, I hope that today’s post has provoked you to consider the disciplines we are willing to take on to achieve the mastery we desire and, equally important, who are the “Models of Mastery” we wish to emulate.

  1. I love it when the universe delivers a message in everyday ways we can understand…like golf. My gift to myself, my discipline every day, is to spend at least 20 minutes in meditation. It sets me up for the day and for me is the most important part. Great post! Blessings, Andrea

  2. Love the golf analogy – success is doing the must tasks day in and day out…that’s when mastery occurs

  3. Bruno Buergi says:

It’s definitely the case that doing things on a regular basis will help you to get better. If it’s in Golf, Business or whatever you do.
